The Boys in the Boat

This weekend, I finished reading The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, a book my sister-in-law had recommended. This morning, I picked it up again to read the last couple of chapters and all I can say is ‘read this book!’ Brown tells the story of nine working-class American boys who rowed for gold in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The book is not just about the boys, one in particular, and not just about rowing, but about the transcendence of teamwork. Along with telling a story gripping enough to affect my productivity for the weekend, Brown made me feel the beauty of rowing.

Seriously, read this book!
